The Sexual Exploitation of Children: A Crime Against Humanity.
Currently more than 12 million children around the world are presently involved or have been affected by sexual exploitation, and will continue to be harassed unless authorities become more concerned with preventing these incidents. The pornographic industry has begun to incorporate children in the material being produced, and these children are forced to perform sexual behavior, which is both physically, and emotionally damaging. Countless children worldwide are mandated to sell their bodies to strangers for the purposes of sexual performance and usually law enforcement can do very little to help protect these youths. The physical harm done to a child by molestation when they are young has a devastating affect on them mentally, and many of them as they mature do not know how to disregard the gruesome past. Greater punishments should be bestowed upon those who sexually abuse children's rights, seeing as these victims may never fully recover from the traumas experienced and have lost all self worth.
Over 1 million children in the United States alone have been sexually mistreated and then photographed to create "kiddy porn". These statistics need to be drastically reduced and children's rights acknowledged. Youth exploited for adult pleasure are physically abused, kidnapped or are runaways that need security, and usually have absolute trust with the individual who begin their careers in this industry. By seeking the child's trust and reliance, the perpetrator is effortlessly able to control and manipulate the child into performing these degrading acts. Threats and violence are utilized to keep the child silent and from requesting aid from others. The victims become petrified and unwillingly cooperate. Past studies from the University of Michigan have publicized that nearly all children used for pornographic film, have undergone relentless mental scenarios of the past, and 85% of cases are never able to rejoin society and live a typical lifestyle.
