There are two broad classifications of twins. Only certain types of twins are qualified in the tests done regarding predetermined personalities. Fraternal twins, perhaps the most common of the two, grow separately from two eggs united with two different sperm cells ("What's"). Because they are virtually two different beings that grow independent of one another they are a lot less similar then identical twins. Dizygotic, as they are also known, share only 50% of similar genes and are, in fact, no more genetically alike then two single born siblings ("Twins"). Because of this, most of their traits are discordant, meaning shared by only one of the two twins, just like a brother and sister having completely different personalities. People tend to think that twins are twins, but the differences between identical and fraternal twins are so vast that the fraternal "twins" are no more than two non-genetically connected siblings born at the same time. (Brandt) Even if they seem similar when they are young, as the aging process begins every year they grow less alike ("What's"). In conclusion, I, as well as many others see that twins of this nature possess little possibility of their personalities being predetermined, and thus they are not used in testing due to the fact that their genetics are practically irrelevant. .
On the other hand, identical twins are not at all similar to that of fraternal twins and open up a whole new window, wide with scientific opportunity. Monozygotic, as they are technically categorized, are born when a single egg and sperm unite and an ovum splits into two separate halves ("Twins"). In essence one ovum with the potentiality of growing into a single child splits into two different beings. Because of this, identical twins share nearly 100% of genetic similarity ("Twins"). And so, babies develop together for nine months from one into two, feeding and nurturing off one another.
