Wherever there are children, there will also be advertisements. .
Malls are another arena for young consumers. Going into the mall can sometimes be the source of Affluenza. Here, young consumers have many stores and materialistic goods to choose from. Here there is a store fort everything "childrens toys, entertainment, clothing stores for children and adults. If there is any kind of story that consumers are looking for, they are more than likely to find it at the malls. Unfortunately, the parents of these children do not realize "their children's needs for the products that are being sold- (De Graff, 54).
There are other ways in which children fall prey to the contagious disease, affluenza, many of these ways start from home. Greed plays a big role in the game they just cannot have enough. Using credit cards is a way that many people pay for their goods and children do not know how they work. They simply think you slide a card through a machine and you do not have to pay for anything; this misconception also plays a big role in affluenza. Even adults fall prey to the credit card scheme, when money falls short of ones reach, people reach for the credit card, and now more than ever people are in debt, the uncontrollable urge to want and get. Children especially, because they are gullible, are convinced that they need these product to be accepted by the rest of society and especially by their peers.
What greatly plays a big role in these children are their parents. Parents are not good role models if they always buy their children what they want and do not necessarily need. Most of the time these parents are in debt because they have been stung with affluenza themselves so it is evident why there is millions of affluenzic people in the country, they have learned it from their parents. Parents are not showing a good example to their children when they also indulge themselves in things they do not need but just want.
