Causes Of Demographic Implosion In Late 20th Century

Causes of Demographic Implosion in Late Twentieth Century.
Thomas Molnar writes an opinionated article on why the family is doomed, basically stating that it is our fault, for we cannot take care of our own productions. For some reason or other he has a major problem with the family system and what it has developed into, or the lack of. .
"In every society the family is the centerpiece of social stability and change, the Archimedean lever from which the social structure can be manipulated for good and evil." For the author, I believe he uses the family as a scapegoat as the problems we have produced and will continue to try to solve or reduce in this society. Families are not the sole problem or the core to what individuals have produced in the twentieth century. He believes that we cannot do this alone, we must receive help from others, meaning government or other authority figures to aide in our family situations. I agree with him that the family is a primary institution in producing good citizens for this world. But I do not agree with his idea of treating the family with military discipline and order to assure no faults, so to speak. It seems he takes the joy out of having a family to make sure it is destined to succeed. "Industrial society which regulates production and distribution cannot afford incalculability on any level; in its conception the family must be planned, the number of members regulated, their ambitions guided and channeled." The family is not a blueprint for the next "x" amount of years; these things take time and are developed as they go along, one day at a time.
Molnar argues that those who have families are given too much freedom to do what they please with their family. Excuse me if I am wrong, but is it his family? I should think not. He is afraid of something, and maybe it is from his experience in his past from his family upbringing. "The social engineering aims at the strict regulation of the family for fear that too much freedom and spontaneity may jeopardize society's precise functioning.
