Elvin Hayes

Ladies and gentleman once again the Big E scores, many fans and opposing teams would hear this for a span of twenty years. Elvin Hayes became a household name due to his exceptional skills, leadership and gratuity. "Elvin Hayes is simple.
Yet complicated, calm yet controversial, humble yet proud, sensitive yet thick-.
Hided, meek before his God, but a fighter under the backboard."(They call Me the.
             Big E Introduction).
Elvin Hayes was born and raised in Rayville, Louisiana. Hayes is a unique individual who overcame his share of battles. When Hayes was born he wasn't expected to live, because he was too weak and sickly to survive. "Hayes credits his father for getting him healthy, Hayes said his father pumped milk and food into him." (They call me the Big E, 8) No one had any reason to believe that Hayes would be very tall, his tallest brothers and sisters were only 5-7. Elvin stayed weak up until his eleventh grade year, but then it became apparent we was going to take after his mother's side, where some of his uncles were 6-7, 6-9, 6-11. Hayes was like any other young man growing up in the South, he picked cotton and stayed cleared of all violence and bloodshed. Hayes was very fortunate to make it out of his neighborhood, Hayes "calls his home a combination of Tom Sawyer and the inner-city ghetto". (They call me the Big E 8) Hayes recalls that all the kids were exposed to this bad influence early and often, bloodbaths and brutality. .
After living his boyhood in this kind of atmosphere, he had no desire to extract an eye for an eye. "It doesn't accomplish anything and he saw enough violence and injury and blood and death over senseless arguments or pledges of revenge to last him ten lifetimes or a hundred. (They call me the Big E 13) .
Hayes came from a long line of smart people, his sister and brother had all been saluatorians or either valdictoains. Hayes himself was no slouch neither, he had been on the honor roll all his years in school.
