Explorer Bulletin Board Ideas.
Age of Exploration Timeline .
Make a large timeline on your bulletin board by placing sentence strips in horizontal rows from the top to the bottom of the board. Write years that you are covering with your class in the sentence strips, spaced out somewhat proportionately. Then you will need to write different events on index cards which your students can place correctly along the timeline. You may want to attach pictures to these cards to make this activity more visually appealing. Your students can attach the cards to the board with tacks or you may want to pre place tacks on the board, punch holes in the index cards, and have your kids hang the cards over the tacks. Have a self-check available. .

Who's Who in the Age of Exploration? .
This is an excellent activity to help your students learn about the different explorers involved in the Age of Exploration time period. You will need to create word cards with the names of the explorers about whom your class is learning. You may also want to add their pictures to these cards. Attach these cards side-by-side to the bulletin board in a chart fashion. Draw vertical lines between each explorer. The students will then place descriptions of the explorers (which you have prepared) underneath the matching name. These can be about their origin, their actual trips, and any other information you wish for them to learn. You will want to have a self-check available for your kids. .
