Left - brain dominant people are very good with logic and word problems. They are believed to be the intellectuals. They rely on language in thinking and remembering. They readily respond to verbal instructions and explanations. They prefer talking and writing, step - by - step instructions, and sequencing activities. Women are most likely left - brain dominant. .
Right - brain dominant people think holistically. They see the big picture but tend to miss small details. They are very creative but need extra help in expressive language and logic. They rely on visual information, which is responsible for taking in the big picture, basic shapes and patterns. The right brain also process non - verbal, concrete and spatial information. Men are most likely to be right brain dominant. .
While in a research done by Anne Moir, (Brain Sex: The Real Difference Between Men and Women, 1991) she mentions specific characteristics that men have and woman do not and vice versa. Men have a very high spatial ability. This is being able to picture things, their shape, position, geography, and proposition accurately in the mind's eye. This explains their superiority in map reading a skill that needs spatial ability. They can determine if they should make a right or left turn without needing to turn the map around. .

Women on the other hand, are conditioned to respond more sensitively to all sensory stimuli. They do better on the verbal ability and are equipped to receive a wider variety of sensory information. They connect and relate that information with greater facility and they place primacy on personal relationships and the need to communicate.
