The most precious gift a woman can receive is a child. The chance to give life to another person is the greatest honor for any woman. However, there are women who do not feel this way. They do not want or are not ready to have children. For those women, there are adoption agencies and abortion clinics. But what about the people who do not consider abortion and, instead, carry the baby full term only to discard the newborn like a piece of trash? What about the people who spend one or more years raising their child only to extinguish their life for no apparent reason? Unfortunately, not all of the people who mercilessly kill their children are punished to the full extent of the law. It is proposed that parents who murder their children should receive the death penalty.
It is incomprehensible how a woman can feel a new life growing inside of her for 9 months and then disregard the newborn as though they are worn out stockings. If the child is not wanted then the sensible thing to do would be to give him or her up for adoption. If they are unable to take the infant to an adoption agency they could always leave the child at a hospital. This is the most logical choice because the newborn at least has a chance to live. However, it is becoming more and more common to find dead infants in trash bags or laying in a ditch somewhere. According to the web site True Crimes, "Statistically, the US ranks high on the list of countries whose inhabitants kill their children. For infants under the age of 1 year, the American homicide rate is 11th in the world, while for ages 1 - 4 it is 1st and for ages 5 - 14 it is 4th"(1). The idea of killing innocent infants seems unbelievable to most people yet, there are some countries where infanticide is morally acceptable. Infanticide is part of the custom used to keep the sizes of families at a certain level and to keep cultures healthy and prosperous.
