            One of the main reasons that the United States was brought in this war was the Japanese attack onto Pearl Harbor. The incident arises when Japan which is already involved in the Second World War, decides that they want to further expand their empire by invading and dominating China. Because it has an alliance with Nazi Germany, they have already controlled French Indonesia and is menacing Britain's Pacific colonies.              object is. The sailor replies that it is a periscope. The sailor also says that .
             there is not supposed to be any submarines in the area. At about 6:10 am the .
             Japanese aircraft carrier sends 183 fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes .
             into the sky. At 6:45 am the U.S. destroyer Ward shoots and destroys the .
             Japanese submarine that was spotted just 3 hours earlier. This was the first .
             official shot between Japan and the U.S. This shooting was reported 8 mins .
             later at 6:53 am. At 7:02 am a private at the Opana Mobile Radar Station .
             spots on the radar and then confirms that there are 50 planes about 125 miles .
             away and heading towards Hawaii. At 7:20 am the Army lieutenant who heard .
             about the sightings which are now 70 miles away believed that they were U.S. .
             planes coming from California and says not to worry. At 7:40 am the .
             Japanese planes first sight the island of Oahu and at 7:49 am are ordered to .
             attack Pearl Harbor. At 7:55 am the Japanese strike Pearl Harbor killing .
             many. At 8:00 am 12 B-12's on their way from California arrive at Oahu.
