This is known as the self-fulfilling prophecy where many blacks are pictured that it is only in the music industry that they can be successes. And so inevitably many blacks go into the entertainment industry looking for a fast track to success. Also, it is suggest that this continued negative portrayal helps to create and increase social divisions. For example if a person already has negative a negative perception of blacks then it is not very difficult for them to find material in the media to confirm and strengthen these views. Media effects, the sociologists Hartmann and Husband have suggest that if a person is living in a multi and/or increase social divisions, he or she will find plenty of material in the media to confirm and strengthen these particular views. However, regarding people those live in all white areas the medias presentation of ethnic minority's is crucial to how their viewpoints moulded. Where their only source of information of ethnic minority's is from the media t any negative information received will obviously lead them to see blacks and Asians as dangerous individuals. The backbone of Hartman and Husbands argument is that the media operates within a British culture that tends to see foreigners, and especially blacks as inferior. In an attempt to prove their theories, Hartmann and Husband relied on a small sample of school children where they attempted to measure the extent to the medias type of coverage, whether or not it influenced people's attitudes. Their research indicated that those children who relied on the media for their information about ethnic minorities were much more likely to think about race relations in terms of conflict than those who had regular contact with ethnic minorities.
