How could something as small as a slip of paper have so much unprecedented power over everyone in the world? The respect received by people with money is shown in every aspect of life. Respect is shown in the political sector with regards to the policies introduced in the legislature and how it benefits the constituents with the most money. The amount of money doesn't affect the family within its circle, but outside the family receives respect mainly based on their financial situation. The power of money, no matter how it is looked, proves that the more money you possess and use to your advantage, the more respect you are shown. .

Once elected to office, a politician needs to make money for re-election. This can be found from committees and other special interests groups, all which gladly contribute for a return favor at a later date. The influence in how elections come out poses a challenge to the phrase "one man, one vote", meaning that with a little payoff here and there, certain officials can buy and election. Whether the elected official is liked or not, the money that is spent comes back in the way of respect. Many politicians have citied in congress that the emphasis on money does indeed have an influence and may keep good politicians from being elected to office. Over 95 percent of the money raised by an official that is already in office is used against the newcomer that would be against them.
