Prison Rape

When a male forces to have sex with a female, it is committing a crime of rape. When a male forces to have sex with another male, then matters become complicated although people still believe it is wrong. It is when this same scenario repeats inside a prison setting that the general people seem less offended. Regardless of any situation, when someone forces to have sex with another situation it is completely wrong.
Prison is a huge melting pot for criminals. Everyone from hardened serial killers to small scale embezzlers are thrown in to fend for themselves. The reasons for imprisonment vary as widely as the age of the offenders. Thus, younger prisoner, put in for less serious crimes, are more valuable to attack than the older, more manipulative ones. Story written by the Washington Times in such was a case for a sixteen - year old Rodney Hulin. He was sentenced to eight years in an adult prison for setting a dumpster on fire in his neighborhood. He was repeatedly beaten and raped. Despite his pleas for help, no one in authority intervended to help him. He was told to protect his own self. Depressed and unwilling to face the remainder of his sentence at the mercy of sexual predators, Rodney Hulin committed suicide. For this, no one deserves to be subjected to this treatment.
The Constitution says that no one should stand in any one's way to our "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." A recent Supreme Court case, Farmer v. Brennen supports this idea. The decision upholds that a prison official may be held liable under the Eighth amendment for acting with deliberate indifference to inmate health or safety if only he knows that inmates face substantial risk of serious harm and disregards that risk by failing to take reasonable measures to abate it. The Eighth amendment essentially says that cruel and unusual punishment should not be inflicted upon anyone. The rape of anyone is cruel and unusual punishment.
