This is much closer to real life where most people are not black or white, but stay primarily in the gray area. .
Jules and Vincent both get into character and bust into the place. They then proceed to discuss with someone named Bret how he could try to screw over their boss. This is where this movie and plot starts with the twists as well as the questions, so try to stay with this paper it might get a little crazy. Jules says that Bret and his boss had a deal, but Bret does not want to live up to his end of it. So right before Jules and Vincent shot Bret, Jules quotes .

While giving this man a ride Vincent's guns .
accidentally goes off blowing the mans head all over the back of the car. Jules goes to his friend Jimmie's, played by none other then Tarantino, to clean up the car. Jimmie uses a racial slur over and over and gets me wondering if in times of trouble or panic you unwittingly use those terms or it is all a matter of how much you know the person? Their boss, who send a specialist to do it, handles the clean up. They then deliver the case and you see the other character, Butch. .
Butch is a boxer who Marcellus is paying off to take a fall in a fight. While Marcellus is paying him off and talking to him about pride there is a line drawn right down the middle of Butch's face. You can't tell if it is the lighting or it is makeup, but I think it is to signify the line between doing what is right or what is wrong. Butch takes the money, but uses it to bet on himself while the odds are way against him.
