A Bachelor's degree is the minium requirement to enter in the field, but now the standard is to have a master's degree. Social workers should be mentally stable in order to help other people with their problems. Social workers need to be responsible and good listeners also good problem solvers. Social worker's should be mature enough to handle all that comes with the job. Also be able to follow the ethical aspects of being the social workers (http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos060.htm ). .
Income of Social Workers made in 2000 Social workers generally do not make a lot of money considering all of the time and effort they put into there work. I am going to show you a graph of social workers earnings in the child, family, and school area of social work in the year of 2000. Elementary and secondary schools earned about 41,700 in the year of 2000. Local government, except education and hospitals earned 35,780 in the year of 2000. State government, except education and hospitals earned 32,860 in the year of 2000. Individual and family services earned 27,170 in the year of 2000. The last is Residential care social worker earned 26,780 in the year of 2000.

I interviewed one of my friends who is going to school to be a social worker. Her name is Giovanna Ervin this summer she did an internship at an social services office in Memphis, during the summer of 2003. I asked her "what made you choose to study this profession?" Giovanna (personal communication, September 24, 2003) responded by saying, "As a teenager I was a babysitter and loved being around kids and whenever I saw a child in a bad situation I just wanted to help them but then I could do nothing. As it was time to go to think about what I wanted to do with my life I thought back to how I felt about the troubled kids in my neighborhood and how much I wanted to help them.
