             Love is a common experience amongst college students. In a recent survey of 184 undergraduates at East Carolina University 94% reported that they had been in love before, and over a third reported that they had been in 3 or more relationships in which they were in love (Knox & Schacht & Zusman, 1999, p.2). These students had various romantic beliefs. One romantic belief about love is "love at first sight." Evidence shows that those younger (under the age of 19) are much more apt to believe that you can fall in love the first time that you see a person (Knox & Schacht & Zusman, 1999, p.2). Another of the common romantic beliefs is that love conquers all. Younger students again were the leader in this belief with 61% of those surveyed under 19 believed this (Knox & Schacht & Zusman, 1999, p.2). These beliefs seem to be occurring because of the immaturity and inexperience of younger students as opposed to upperclassmen. Generally, students under the age of 19 refers to freshmen, and freshmen coming into college usually don't know what a serious relationship is. This could account for the fact that more under aged people believe in love at first sight, because most of them don't really know what love is. "Data from the current study show that after thirty years, youth and romanticism are still related" (Knox & Schacht & Zusman, 1999, p.2). This shows that despite the "high divorce rate, premarital education programs, and public awareness of violence in relationships, first and second year college students still believe very much in the mystery of love" (Knox & Schacht & Zusman, 1999, p.2). As long as these students still believe in this mystery of love the uniqueness of the feeling of love will thrive and survive. .
             What is the difference between love and sexual intimacy, and do you have to be in love to experience sexual intimacy? Men are much more apt to have sexual intercourse with someone they had known for a couple hours, showing that in the male mind it is not necessary to be in love with someone to have sex with them (Knox & Sturtevant & Zusman, 2001, p.
