The Dillemas Of Living In A Female Body

In contrast, Ephron opens with a bold statement,I have to begin with a few words about androgyny.? If this were being spoken, one can only imagine an angry and demanding tone accompanying that statement. In comparison to Tisdale's welcoming but warning tone, Ephron begins her essay in a very bitter and almost jealous fashion. Later in the essay, she even criticizes women with larger breasts. She does not necessarily seem to envy women with large breasts, but she seems to despise everyone who does not have the same figure as she. She claims she is simply, obsessed by breasts.? Ephron's language does not help the reader to sympathize with her or embrace her situation.
Tisdale uses rhetorical questions in her essay to emphasize her point while Ephron throws her personal experiences at the reader, not giving them time to contemplate or identify with her. For example, in the beginning of Tisdale's essay, she asks,How many of us now live on various version of Lean Cuisine during the work week and pay premium for a plate of swordfish and greens on a Saturday night?? Such a grammatical pause helps the reader to comprehend exactly what Tisdale is aiming for. When faced with a question within an essay, the reader habitually pauses and considers or relates the question to themselves. Ephron, on the other hand, does not use that technique. Rather than giving the reader time to contemplate her meaning or opinion, Ephron rambles fluidly to the rest of her complaints. She does not even address other small breasted women who may be reading. She speaks only of herself,And even now that I have been countlessly reassured that my figure is a good one? I cannot help it I cannot shake itI have thought about their remarks.?.
Compared to Ephron's essay, Tisdale uses more convincing methods of ethos. A noticeable form of ethos in her essay is Tisdale's use of rhetorical questions. These questions help to prove her statements true within the reader.
