Defining the Framework of Canadian Gov

The fact the Paul Martin is receiving increasing support shows that people are beginning to realize the many inadequacies within our governmental framework.
Educating the young about Canadian government and politics is also an important aspect to consider according to state-centred theorists. Just as easily as one can come across literature pointing out the inadequacies in our system, the state can use the school system to encourage each new generation of fresh minds to feel satisfied with the status quo or helpless to change it. Since education in the formative years has great influence, it becomes quite easy for one to disregard a new perspective if it conflicts with one's own. .
Elections in Canada are possibly the most highly indicative of the power of the bureaucracy and the deference of the public. Prior to voting, politicians will do everything possible to appear that they will serve the public's needs in the best possible manner. Each party at this time emphasizes more clearly the "good" while hiding the "bad". Everyone has a tendency to focus on issues that are irrelevant to the operation of the nation while ignoring the issues that are indeed relevant; scandalous affairs or tax evasions suddenly become the topic of popular discussion while economic platforms are diminish into the background. Furthermore, it is at this time that parties develop platforms that are the most appealing to the public. Despite the many promises made prior to elections, the government still has a tendency of not following through with these promises and even reversing them. Despite some grumbling, generally people choose not to challenge the government's decisions.
Similar to the state-centric approach, class analysis also maintains that the power in Canada is in the hands of few. These few, however, are a more focused group of capitalist elites, rather than the bureaucracy, which advises the political elites.
