More and more people and organizations are using the benefits of the Internet to change our everyday lives. People's lifestyles are changing because of the Internet and the benefits it can bring. Today, you don't have to leave the comfort of your home to do your shopping, banking, book a holiday or even go to work. Many companies now encourage people to work from home as its gives more people to spend more time with families and feel more relaxed in their surroundings and it can also cut down on space needed at the offices of the company. This has benefited the transport industry around the world as now more and more people that work in major cities have the luxury of working from home.
             Over half a billion people worldwide now have Internet access, according to new research from Nielsen-Netratings. The research company's latest study indicates that 580 million people have Net access, compared to 563 million in the third quarter of 2002. The US posted the greatest increase in the number of adults online over the same period with nearly 10 million people over the age of 16 gaining Net access. Research from Ipsos-Reid suggests that people are becoming increasingly reliant on the Internet. A study from the online research firm indicates that Internet users are going online more frequently. The survey found that the US has the highest incidence of Internet usage with 72% of the population going online once with the previous month (Dec. 2002). The UK saw a 15% increase in the number of people going online.
             The English language is the number one language for websites to have their material. However, the Japanese and Chinese languages are in second and third places respectively. This shows that the Asian market is becoming more prominent on the global stage and more people in the Asian market place are going online and using the Internet more frequently. This shows that more Asian companies are becoming part of the global economy are in a few years will threaten major US and European companies.
