Woodstock 1969

Markoff was hired to build a system for 50,000 people. He designed a sound system so powerful that on the amp's lowest setting the speakers would cause pain for anyone standing within 10 feet of them. Despite this many people at the festival could not actually hear the music. .
             Ventures also hired a cameraman. Big movie studios would not sign so they hired Michael Wadleign. Wadleign decided to focus not only on the music but on the overall peacefulness of the festival.
             Next the corporation needed to decide on a slogan. The group wanted to avoid any violence. They thought that a slogan with "peace" in it would help keep the order (How Woodstock Happened). "Three days of Peace and Music" became the concerts concrete slogan. .
             After all of this Woodstock Ventures Inc. was searching for a site for their concert. The first track of land they located was a site in Walkill, New York. However, only four weeks before the concert was to take place the town's zoning board had a change of heart and banned the concert. The board claimed that the plans of the four organizers were incomplete. Communities near by also rushed to restrict such events from happening in their towns. The organizers were left with no site for their concert. .
             A man named Elliot Tiber contacted Ventures. He informed the corporation of a piece of land that he was ready to lease. The partners went out to take a look at the land and determined it was to small for such a large concert. Tiber then told Ventures about a friend of his named Max Yasgur.
             Yasgur was a huge diary farm. He owned a 600-acre farm in Bethel, New York, and he agreed to lease this land to the corporation.
             Fear struck the people of Bethel. They did not know if their roads could handle the flow of traffic, or if their small local stores could support all the concertgoers. Residents grew suspicious of the young people's odd appearances and behaviors. The town was fighting hard to stop this concert from happening.
