Personal Narative

If someone were to tell me a few years back that at the age of fourteen, I would have a job, I would have trouble believing it. Living in a family of eight and with four older siblings, I always had that second hand experience of what it was like to grow up. My older brothers would be getting up early to go to our club to caddy as those college years grew closer. Their hard work has always inspired me to look for a job. Now working locally has changed my life in ways I never expected.
It was October of 2001, and I was in town with my mother. I had always talked about getting a job but never knew where. My cousin had worked at Raindew before and heard they paid $6.50 an hour, and thought I would give it a shot. I did not believe that I would have that strong of a chance because they had been flooded with applications and with the holidays coming it took up most of their time. As I walked in through the doors, I smelled the odor of construction in the air. The smell of the oak floors was just like the smell of a Home Depot. The store had recently bought Creative Expressions a store which had been located right next to it. They had knocked down the wall and started what was to be a timely process of expanding the store. I walked up to the counter and asked for an application. They handed me a three page packet and told me fill it out. As I handed to the managers upon completion, they said that they couldn't make any promises but they would do their best to get back to me. .
It was about a week after that when I received a call at home. It was Raindew and they wanted me to come down for an interview. I was shocked that they had called me so soon, but was nervous about the interview. I never had once before and thought that if I didn't make a good impression, I might not get the job. I thought of changing my clothes and putting on something more formal, but my sister said that it would be better if I just went as myself.
