Dealing with Accidents

There is an old saying, which says, "prevention is better than a cure". Taking this into consideration it is the role of the public services to help promote accident prevention.
Fire and accident prevention is cheaper and (to judge from statistical changes) more effective than fire fighting or simply dealing with an accident that has already happened. So obviously the public services realise that this is the best way and gone into fire and accident prevention in a big way.
The fire services role in prevention is key and to educate local communities on how to be more fire vigilant they use a range of different methods. The fire service now produce a wide range of leaflets which cover all different areas of fire safety from electrical fires, fireworks, car safety and many more. As well as printing leaflets the fire service also have videos which cover all the main areas of fire safety and are available for the public to view.
The fire service are also in charge of issuing fire certificates to businesses which are used by the public to make sure that it is a safe environment for workers and customers alike to enter. As well as doing this they give full advise to the owners on ways of minimising the risk of fire.
One of the main areas the fire service enjoys doing is educating young people into the job they do and the dangers of fire and accidents. Hopefully after visiting young people at schools and colleges they will be left with a lasting impression of the seriousness of fires and accidents and how to avoid them.
Obviously it is the role of the police force as well to help in accident prevention in communities. The police force like the fire service print leaflets explaining accidents and their causes, however the police tend not to produce as many leaflets as the fire service but instead put information into things such as the highway code which everyone is encouraged to read.
The police again like the fire service like to educate young people and they usually travel around to schools and hold activity days which allow them to teach children how to act safely whilst riding a bike on the road and other things like that.
