An Insight Into Why Teenagers Take Drugs

            "An insight into why teenagers take drugs.
             Drugs are becoming more and more of a problem amongst teenagers.
             By interviewing teenagers I found that teenagers see taking / using drugs are just a way of teenage-hood, most youth will try some sort of drug, maybe just to try it out or maybe for a reason. These teens said they have taken drugs because it was something to do, and everyone else around them was doing it and it was seen "cool" to take drugs.
             Peer pressure is what everyone said was the main reason for teens to take drugs. Other suggested reasons for using drugs were:.
              Boredom.
              For a thrill.
              Experimenting.
              To escape the real world and to be someone else.
              To be seen as "cool".
              Another way of having fun with friends.
             There is enough education about drugs, warning people about using drugs and its consequences. Teens said they know enough about drugs and don't really need to know more they learn a lot from friends, television and the media. .
             The teens said if they were giving more information they probably wouldn't want to get involved in them, "But that's the fun of taking drugs." .
             Teens said their parents have talked to them about drugs and told them to stay away or just warned them of the danger of drugs.
             Teenagers most often try drugs or use drugs at parties and with close friends. They said that they wouldn't try drugs for the first time with people they didn't know. .
             Parents and other adults think there is also enough education and information about drugs. There just needs to be another way to get it across to younger people. Pamphlets and information lectures don't seem to work, teenagers tune out and lose interest in what is being said. .
             Parents said that they have talked to their children about the risks with drugs. By either bring it up in light conversation or a sit down lecture. Parents think it's important for children to know about drugs and the risks of using drugs.
