Missouri, my grandmother, one of the healthiest persons I have ever know. She dies at sixty-two. She was an athletic person, always exercising and running. Missouri was attacked by cancer and swept away from our family. Her sudden illness and death left all of us, especially my mom and sister stunned and shattered. Missouri helped raise our family that's why she is so important to us. This tragedy caused so much pain that it took mom awhile to go on with life.
The flight home from Pennsylvania with my sister was a lonely and sad one. We were looking forward to seeing grandma. We had just returned from our dad's funeral in Pennsylvania. It all started out when we had came to visit her and she met us at the airport .She looked very tired and weary so we asked was she feeling ok and she said, "I have pain in my lower right groin area." Mom asked how long has she been feeling this way grandma said she just started earlier this morning. So she took a trip to the doctor and they had an Ultrasound done on her. The Ultrasound showed a growth on her right ovary. The doctor said she has ovarian Cancer. She was shipped to California to get a second opinion and indeed it was true. Our lives consisted of hospital trips, medical seminars on ovarian cancer, and trips to the drug store for prescription. We all were misery and wished she would be treated very soon.
Missouri didn't respond to any of the treatments that the Oncologists tried.
