A Wagner Matinee

The short story "A Wagner Matinee" consists of various themes that talk a lot about life in general. The theme can be used throughout our lives. One of the first themes in "A Wagner Matinee" is "Don't love something so much that if it's taken away from you, you"re lost without it." This is a tremendous lesson for us to learn about life. In the story, Aunt Georgiana loved music so much that when they moved to Nebraska, she had a hard time getting used to it. She vowed to teach Clark to not just love one thing because she didn't want him to have to go through what she went through upon her move to Nebraska. .
The first theme leads into another. A possible theme in "A Wagner Matinee" is that "listen to elders because they are saying it for the better of their youth." The time when this theme correlates to the story is when Aunt Georgiana teaches Clark not to fall in love with something particularly music because she doesn't want Clark to go through what she went through. .
The third theme is "A Wagner Matinee" is "Appreciate what you have at the moment, because it could be gone before you know it." This ties in with the first theme. It means that we should be thankful for whatever we have, because in the blink of an eye, it could be taken from us. In the story, Aunt Georgiana learned the hard way that she should have appreciated her music while she had it, because she was miserable without it. .
