Disappointment with God

He did not have a way out of it, but rather a way to get through it. He sums it up saying if a Christian bases his or her faith on a world that can have no disappointments or faults, then our faith is going to definitely let us down. .
The second question that Yancey tries to answer is "Is God silent?- There are two things that might help explaining. One is that because clarification might not help us, God desires to keep us ignorant to what he does. Instead of God focusing on the cause, he focuses on how our response is. Secondly, he says that because perhaps we are unable to comprehend the answer so that is why keeps us ignorant. If we are trapped in viewing time in our perspective, we will find that God is unfair. When all sin has been punished or forgiven and everything restored, only then will there be fairness. But until then we just have to trust God, because he knows what how evil plays a role in the world ad we will not know. He gives two observations. One is that God didn't free himself from the same demands of faith. Jesus experienced the same trial. He lost health, friends and was also tempted. The second observation that he makes is that we have little understanding of what our faith means to God. Only God can truly know what is of value to God. God says, "Blessed are those who believe and have not seen-. .
The last question addressed is "Is God Hidden?- Often we give responses when we feel God is hidden from us. You can ignore him or try to suppress your feelings, but this won't do. One response that seems to be predominant in the book of Job is to express your feelings to God. Suppressing them will just create more frustration.
I had never thought of what doubters want to see or to know. Yancey makes a point saying that its not the miracles that Jesus did do that they are interested in, it's the miracles that Jesus did not perform that they are the most interested in.
