Taming of the Shrew meets the Dentist

The Taming of the Shrew is full of all kinds of interesting characters who have all kinds of interesting nuances. To say that some of them characters have small social issues is equivalent to one saying the Middle East has small peace problems. In this play I find the characters disturbing and their thought processes make me squirm with an uneasiness. Perhaps this was done by design but considering it is a comedy, I somehow doubt it. Either way, the unpleasantness of the characters and their ways reminds me of a good dental cleaning necessary but not enjoyable. Anyway say, Ahhh!!.
There used to be a saying that beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.or was it beholder? I guess it could be either. Katharina is a considered a shrew. I needed to know what a shrew was so I looked it up and Webster told me: .
1 : any of a family (Soricidae) of small chiefly nocturnal insectivores related to the moles and distinguished by a long pointed snout, very small eyes, and velvety fur .
             2 : an ill-tempered scolding woman.
Take your choice, but either one isn't very good when it comes to describing you. Katharina is envious of her sister, Bianca, because she is seen as being soft spoken and most men want to take her hand in marriage. She lashes out in anger over every man that comes her way and ends up with no man wanting her. Ok this is where the scalpel pick thing they poke you with at the dentist comes in, doesn't she realize her behavior is driving the men away? She is caught in a revolving door of anger, jealousy, and rejection when what she wants is so close to her. In a way I feel sorry for her, but in another way, I feel like she is a twit for not getting a clue from her sister on how to behave. Katharina is doing her best to reach for something she can't seemingly attain unless there is a change. .
Katharina doesn't feel she should change because most of the men are only interested in her father's money and her father treats her so poorly.
