The End

As I lie dying, I reflect upon the other things that met their end as I am preparing to do. These things were grand, that went and left before me, but the grandest disappearance of them all by far, greater then the extinction of rats, or the burning of the last tropical tree was the extinction of the race now known as men. .
The race of men did not meet its end in a bloody war, that engulfed whole continents in flame, nor did it meet its end at the hands of an unstoppable plague as many science fiction writers had predicted. The human race became far too advanced to continue its existence as a wasteful, and inefficient society on planet earth. Terra could hardly handle a population of ten million efficiently, but was overflowing with the number of its inhabitants reaching over ten billion. .
The evolution of men to date was based consistently on wars - a sharper blade for the sword, or a jet engine, both served to further human development, through inventive thinking of the wars" participants, but bureaucracy would hold these advances back like an impenetrable wall during times of peace. The cold war served to create capabilities by it's participants to create colonies outside the planet earth, but the project was abandoned with the collapse of America's only rival, and the organization that had such grand plans for space exploration found itself suddenly underfunded, barely capable of launching missions into space to costruct the new international space station. .
Many realized that something had to be done, but the only real solution was a devastating war to shrink the population of the world to manageable numbers, but it was monstrous, unthinkable! There was another solution. If human nature was causing such horrid twists in evolution, then get rid of human nature - force humans to evolve along lines that are laid out and controlled, so as to eliminate greed, hatreds and individuals seeking to better their own situation at the cost of the whole.
