            Joel and Ethan Coen's film, Blood Simple, can be classified as a low budget film. There are several things that make it easy for people to classify this film as a low budget film. One of the things that make it easy for people to classify this movie as a low budget film is the setting. There is nothing extravagant about the setting. It is set in the middle of nowhere in Texas. It is a really mellow film in the aspect that there are no amazing scenarios such as stunts or explosions that would cost a lot of money to produce. Another thing that makes this a low budget film is its characters. It only has characters in it that are essential to creating the film. There are no extra characters in the movie. Also, the actors are not incredibly famous people that are already known to the public . .
             Even though this is a low budget film, it does not fit in the same category as most other low budget films. There are several things that help this film go above and beyond the other independent films. First, it has a higher quality than most other independent films. This film is crisp and has a strong plot unlike many other low budget films. The film is very suspenseful and has many twists and turns throughout the plot. The film creates enough spook that you are able to watch it without it being down right scary. It creates enough emotion in the viewers that many actually jump in fright in parts of the movie. It has excellent camera work. The camera angles and lighting are exceptional. Almost all of the scenes are dark but the most important scenes are lit up so that more attention is brought to them. They use the long roadways and the ceiling fan to make easy transitions from one scene to the next. This helps to make the transitions from one scene to another more crisp. .
