Peeling Soul Peel

Soul Peel was a creative and energetic presentation, and it kept the audience's attention and was very entertaining. I had the pleasure of attending the second showing of Soul Peel on Saturday, December 7, 2002. The dancers were very confident of the choreography and it showed in the way that they carried themselves on the stage. Altogether, I believe that the presentation was a complete success. It was very professional as well as it kept an element of creativity. .
The poster's design was innovative and unique; it was a good way to show the diversity of the TCC Elite Dance Company with the display of all of the faces coming together to make one dancer. I liked the fact that the postcard and the program for the dance concert also had the same design, which helped keep a thread of continuity throughout the promotion of Soul Peel. .
Introducing This piece was choreographed very effectively. It was upbeat and full of energy. It really displayed the natural characteristics of the dancers and was executed skillfully. This piece demonstrated that the dancers are full of talent and just like to have fun. .
My Need - Autumn and Kimberly were beautiful. They dance very well together, with unity in their steps and combinations. I was disappointed in their choice of costumes, because it was not fitting for the Christian music that they were dancing to. I do not have a problem with the shorter dresses, but when they rolled to the floor and it showed small dance trunks and lots of stomach, I believe that it was too much. Overall their song flowed with excellence. .
Unattainable - The dance company did a wonderful job of expressing the mood of the song and the audience felt the dancer's despair. It was as if you were experiencing the song with the dancers, you felt sick, and were ready to give up all hope. .
For the Suffering - The message of this piece was somewhat unclear. The audience did not feel what the dancers were trying to tell in the story of their dance.
