Dealing with Brain Disorders

My grandfather was not aware that the Thursday night of December 12, 1998, would change his life forever. First, my grandfather's background included being an Annapolis native and working in King Hall for 35 years. This was the year he had retired from his career as a cook. Along with being a cook, he had participated in several golf tournaments in the Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware area. He had been pretty active all of his life, and had had manage to conceive a drinking problem. As a recovering alcoholic, things were looking up for him, but alcoholics are at risk of brain injuries from falling and may have Epilepsy (Seizures due to brain injuries). Alcoholics with Epilepsy and brain injuries require maintenance treatment for these specific conditions, while those with Alcoholism alone do not.
This particular Thursday started out like any other with my grandfather getting wood for the fireplace. It was during the time I was off for Christmas vacation from high school. Me and the rest of my family had gone out to go shopping for the holidays, and were gone for quite sometime. When we returned, we had found my grandfather on the downstairs couch wrapped up in the covers complaining that he was cold and his arm had a severe pain in his arm. His speech didn't sound the same, it was kind of slurred. Before we saw him on the couch though, we noticed that there had been spilled food on the floor at the bottom of the steps and the piano chair to the piano had been knocked over. What we concluded was that my grandfather had fallen down the steps and hit the piano, we were pretty sure that he may have had a seizure since his language wasn't normal.
Other than that, he seemed okay, like he just had a bad fall but my grandmother examined him more carefully throughout the night. His arm became swollen even after ice was applied to it and he kept on saying that he was tired and wanted to go to sleep.
