Funeral Eulogy

Unlike many people who are pressured into speaking at a funeral, I actually volunteered for this job! The minute I heard that my Grandmother had passed away I automatically knew that I wanted to speak to all of you today. Not just to mourn her passing, but to celebrate a life that has touched so many.
Many of my earliest memories include my Grandmother. Birthday parties, holidays at Grandma's. Cards for every silly holiday like Valentine's day, St. Patrick's Day. I simply cannot remember an important event in my life that didn't include my Grandmother. .
As a child I used to love to watch my Grandmother play Bridge. Boy was she a determined lady. More determined than many men I know even now! And believe me my Grandfather knew it better than any of us! She was the feisty one, kept him on his toes. I doubt there was ever a boring moment for the two of them! And boy how my Grandfather loved that lady! I mean we all loved Grandma, how could you not! But no-one more so than Grandpa Bob! The kind of love they had just radiated between them. And I can tell you this, that was one happy man! But what man wouldn't be, the two of them had it all!.
A loving marriage, healthy and successful children, and of course beautiful grandchildren ! But that's not to say they never did without. Because as I've always heard it, money never grew on trees in the Beeson backyard! But as a team my Grandmother and Grandfather worked their way to financial security. And they worked hard. Weather they were working at their hardware store or on their farm, my Grandparents knew the value of a dollar. And they taught their children how to work hard and get ahead. Something that will be passed on for generations to come.
You know I'll never forget the day my Grandfather passed away. It was a surprise to everyone, he seemed so healthy. And I always regretted that I never really got to say good-bye to him.
