L-Glutamine

In this day and age, everyone is always looking for an easy way out of all of their problems. One of the most challenging struggles that people face today is getting their bodies into shape. Some people resort to plain old - fashion exercise, while others use dietary supplements to help along the process. But how much do we really know about these so called "natural" products? Are they good for us? How do they work? These questions can be answered by knowing as much as there is to know about the active ingredients that are present in these products. The product that I have selected to research is known as L- Glutamine. Basically, this product is used to speed up the growth and the healing of a muscle. It has also been known to reduce sugar and alcohol cravings, and to help in healing damage of the gastrointestinal tract (the tract that permits food to be converted into nutrients that provide energy and many by-products which are essential to heath). The active ingredient of L-Glutamine (ironically) is glutamine. Out of twenty, glutamine is the most highly concentrated amino acid (the building blocks of protein) present in muscle. Over 61% of skeletal muscle is glutamine. It consists of 19% oxygen which makes it the primary transferor of nitrogen into muscle cells. Glutamine plays key roles in protein metabolism, increasing cellular volume and anti-catabolism (prevents the breakdown of muscles). It also helps to increase the body's ability to secrete the Human Growth Hormone to metabolize fat and support new muscle growth. Overall, glutamine is needed for optimal performance.
L- Glutamine is composed of many different natural ingredients. These ingredients are Cellulose (plant origin), Dicalcium Phosphate, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, Silica and Vegetable Magnesium Stearate. As of now, L-Glutamine isn't known to cause any side effects. Scientists have found it to have no adverse side effects because glutamine naturally occurs in your body.
