Chemistry Measurments of Density

This lab consisted of finding the density of 5 objects. The first object was the aluminum cube. You have to find the mass of the cube by using the laboratory balance. Place the cube on the balance and adjust the dial till the white line balances with the other white line at the end. After you find the mass of the cube you then have to find the volume of the cube. Take the ruler and find the length of one of the cube's side and cube the length. This will give you the volume. Now you can find the density by taking the mass and dividing it by the volume. .
The next object was an aluminum bar. Place the aluminum bar on the balance and weigh it. This will give you the mass of the bar. Now find the volume by taking a ruler and measuring the length, width, and height. After you get these numbers multiply them to receive the volume of the aluminum bar. Take the mass and divide it by the volume of the bar to receive the density.
The glass sphere was the next object. Take the glass sphere and place it on the balance and weight it. Once you find out the mass, which is the amount it weighed, place the sphere in between two aluminum cubes so it doesn't roll away. This will make it easier to measure the diameter of the sphere. Take the ruler and measure the diameter of the sphere. Take this number and divide it by 2 so you get the radius of the sphere. Plug the radius in this formula, 4/3x x r , this will give you the volume of the sphere. Take the mass and divide it by the volume so you receive the density.
Now take the steal sphere and put it on the balance to find the mass of it. After you find the mass, place the sphere in between two aluminum cubes so it won't roll away. Now take the ruler and measure the diameter of the sphere. Divide the diameter by two so you have the radius. Plug the radius in this formula 4/3x x r , this will give you the volume of the sphere. Now take the mass and divide it by the volume and you will get the density of the steal sphere.
