This is true for all nations as well as the Europeans and other nations who immigrated to the "New World". There were as many reasons for coming to the "New World" as there were people in the world. Every person came to America for different reasons. Some came to possess gold, land, and religion. However, many came to the "New World", or America, to improve their economic opportunity, and of course there were those who came involuntarily. .
The English settlements in America had a vast impact on many parts of the world. Many Englishmen were immigrating to America so that they can economically prosper from what the "New World" had to offer. Many voyages were sponsored by Joint Stock companies. These people came to America on ships which were sponsored by these companies and then worked the land for about 4-7 years in return for the trip to America. Although these people came to America to become rich and prosper, they had to leave their country. They had to leave their jobs, their families, as well as their usual lives to go America. It was very hard for the people to communicate with their loved ones back at home. There were times when families traveled together to America but that they would end spending a very long time working on someone's land to pay back the companies for bringing them to America.
Although, many people came by their free will, but as we know there were also people who came to America as slaves. Usually these people were African Americans, who were bought by Europeans and sold to the West Indies which then were transported to America to work the land.
