A super cell is a very quality storm, because instead of having a bunch of updrafts and downdrafts like all other storms have, a super cell has only one updraft and one downdraft, which allows the storm to feed off itself, giving it a long and intense life. These super cells eventually produce hail, heavy rain and sometimes a tornado. This is what makes tornadoes so unique. The winds start blowing from all different directions and different speeds, this causes the air around it to rotate left to right. When this band of air meets a strong updraft, it can become twisted and bend upward. This forms a mesocycle, which is the mass of rotating air in a column. This is usually where the tornado forms, in the mesocycle. This is when the tornado starts to make its shape and start downward towards the ground. The funnel itself is said to be full of several smaller funnels known as "suction vortices." One tornado can have as many as six or as little as one. Some scientists even think that some suction vortices contain vortices themselves to , its really remarkable.
These tornadoes develop mostly in just the unites states. They mostly occur during the summer and spring , but can occur anytime of the year. Tornadoes can happen anytime of the day, but they generally occur between 3pm and 9 pm. There are no places in the unites states that are immune to them, regardless of the location or the time of the year, a tornado can happen. Some intense spring time storm systems can produce large, constant areas that support tornado development and increase main outbreaks. During the late spring, tornadic thunderstorms can develop in the southern High Plains of the Unites States along the dry line(where warm moist air and hot dry air meet). The Rocky Mountains and southward into Texas, theres a slope flow of unstable air than can cause some severe thunderstorms. The Unites States is the main place for tornadoes, from the east coast all the way to the west coast, because of the air that develops there and because of the plains of that the United States contains.
