Utopia vs Pleasentville

When looking at utopias through out history, Mores" novel Utopia (which can be argued to be the original "blueprint" for how a utopia should be run) and Pleasentville, which is a movie that depicts how a utopia would be run in the mid 1900's, are two pieces of literature that seem to stand out. In a time in which England and most of Europe were in a dark period, More thought of a place in which perfection was a way of life. He "created" an area where everyone was happy, had full stomachs, and were for the most part equal. There is still a hierarchy of government officials that run the society, close to the one that we have in place now in the United States. With an elected King and with people working below him, like senators. .
But more so from the political structure is how the families are run. The eldest male runs the family in which a couple families live together in the same household. That is until he becomes senile or just to old to run the house. At that time the next eldest male takes over and runs the household. Males marry at 22 years of age and the females marry at 18 years of age. The females move into the males house where they live out the rest of their lives. It is a very rigged and structured way of life where the males do the "grunt" work to keep the society running smoothly where the females raise the children and do the other chores to keep the house running smoothly. .
When reading it sounds a lot like what the life styles used to be like; men do the farm work and females raise the children. The same is shown in the movie Pleasentville when the father goes out and earns money to take care of the family while the mother stays home and raises the kids and cleans the house. She always has dinner ready when the husband gets home from work and the always has the house spotless. .
But there little things about Mores" utopia that restrict adults from fully being adults; such as not owning your own house.
