Rolemodels

Have you ever wanted to be Brittany Spears? Rich talented, beautiful, blonde, and a figure that men go crazy for. Teens all over the world worship her and many desire to be her hoping that maybe they have the talent to make it that far. Or maybe you want to be Brad Pitt or Jennifer Anniston? Why not, we see them all the time on the news at their million dollar weddings and five story mansions. I mean living their lives must be great right? To have the world as your oyster. But is the life of the rich and famous all it's cracked up to be? But what about the facts behind this materialistic lie. The hidden truth. What about their drug and alcohol addictions, their eating disorders resulting from the pressure of the entertainment industry and their forever changing faces and bodies from their weekly plastic surgery operations. Should we be looking up to these people as our idols? Are these people even sane?.
Another common role model is the sports star. The elite athletes. Strong, powerful, talented but usually very modest about their abilities. Whether it's hitting balls far, shooting with aim, gliding through water or running at the speed of light, it all seems to be done at ease. But again the truth is distorted. Top class sports stars train up to 24 hours a week to achieve their physical edge, sacrificing their social lives, education and often time with loved ones. Very few only ever achieve sports star status, as no matter how hard you train, a natural ability is required to succeed. Of course money comes with success but next comes greed and soon no reward is big enough to please these demanding sports stars.
Politicians these days are more often criticised then praised but many young people look up to them. Whether it's the local member for council or the prime minister, they all have more power than the common man and this is probably what attracts so many youngsters.
