In the past slavery was spread out all over America and some other countries. Slaves are people doing all their master's work without getting paid for it, human beings traded like animals without any human rights, and people who were forced to follow the will of another. Slaves were mostly black (Native American or African People) Many people owned slaves - even those who weren't rich, because it was a kind of social status. It's easier to have someone doing all my work than doing it by myself, especially if I don't have to pay them. All the cruel and discriminating treatments were in the past. Today everybody lives in freedom. Most people don't believe slavery exists anymore.

Freedom - "A right or the power to act freely without control or interference" (Dictionry.com) Freedom is to be free in our actions, but are we really free? Can we act freely? Aren't there laws and rules disturbing our "freedom"? Every American citizen has to follow laws, rules and directions to handle their own lives. Doesn't that mean, that we don't have the power to act freely and as a consequence we"re not free? Are we all slaves? Slaves of our own life and will?.
Until the age of 18, a child in the USA lives under the custody of his legal guardian - in most cases their parents. They have the control over me and my actions and it's my responsibility to follow their instructions. Theoretically, I don't have to do as they want, for example cleaning out my room, but there are consequences for not following. Parents have the power to take a way all my privileges like going out, using computer or phone, etc. . Furthermore they have the control or authority over me, my condition and my background and the way I am living. They can decide more or less everything from the color of my hair, the clothes I wear, the food I eat and the friends I hang out with. Legally I have the choice to disobey, but no one really wants to live with the repercussions resulting out of that.
