There's a rise and fall for every emperor. An old adage says that no one shall stay in power for long or else destruction shall come upon. The very first triumvirate set out to rule all together. Unfortunately, two of the triumvirates, Pompey and Marcus Crassus, were killed, which left Caesar omnipotent. In "The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,"" one of many mistakes Caesar made was thinking of himself a constant Northern star. Conspirators (people who do not favor Caesar) thought that if Caesar became a king, then he would grow into a tyrant. Therefore, they convinced Brutus, Caesar's close friend, to join their conspiracy to kill Caesar. In this play, Caesar's fall may have been caused by several reasons. Ironically, one of the main reasons was a friend's betrayal " a friend no other than gentle Brutus.
First of all, Brutus' attack on Caesar might have been deadly because he betrayed Caesar who considered him to be a good friend "someone he could trust and share his pain with. However, to Brutus, protecting Rome meant more than his friendship with Caesar. At a certain point in the story, it seemed as if Brutus didn't know his friend at all. Friends love and care for each other. They know each other's capabilities. In his heart, Brutus should've known that a man who wept along with the commoners would never scorn at them. The ambitious man, as Brutus described Caesar, was in fact very altruistic who always sought to cherish the Romans. As explained above, Brutus clearly betrayed Caesar because as a friend he should've known him better.
Furthermore, when Brutus stabbed Caesar, he may have realized that Brutus never actually trusted him. Trust, the most important thing in the world, is the closest bond between friends. Unable to trust, Brutus misunderstood Caesar. When dying, Caesar may have wondered why Brutus went along with Cassius and other conspirators. In my opinion, Brutus should've questioned himself; can Caesar really grow into a tyrant? Sometimes, trust is the wall between life and death.
