Lazirillo de Tormes

The story "Lazarillo De Tormes" revolves around the life of the protagonist, Lazarillo De Tormes and divides his life in different phases, at each step focusing on his character, the hardships he underwent and the new lessons he learned: his education. Lazarillo De Tormes is the story of a poor boy Lazarillo from Tejas, a village near Salamanca, who spent almost his entire life deprived of the love of his parents. His father died as a loyal servant leaving Lazarillo orphan and his mother a widow when Lazarillo was eight. At this point began Lazarillo's education. He learned his first lesson from the Gospel, according to which "people like [his father] are blessed"(25) and go to heaven. His helpless mother then moved to another city and soon gave birth to an illegitimate Negro baby. Although Lazarillo earlier did not like his black stepfather, Lazarillo later happily accepted the Negro because the man provided Lazarillo and his mother with food and other basic necessities. Here Lazarillo learned the most valuable lesson of his life and this lesson that he learned on his own was - the one who satisfies your hunger or helps you over come your hunger and provides food is the best. Unfortunately Lazarillo had to be separated from his mother at a very young age and become the eyes of an old blind man. .
Impressed by Lazarillo's hard work and enthusiasm when Lazarillo and his mother worked at an inn, an old blind man asked Lazarillo's mother to take Lazarillo with him. His mother let Lazarillo go with the blind man, who promised to treat his new servant like his son. So at an age when Lazarillo still required holding someone's hand and be guided, the poor little boy held a blind man's hand, not to be guided but to guide. With every step Lazarillo took towards the "real world," he learned a new lesson, and the first lesson he learned from his first master, the old blind man, was to be sharp and shrewd.
