Ignorance is Different than Stupidity


             Although it may not seem like it, there are several differences between the terms stupidity and ignorance. These can be seen in everyday life, amongst people all over the world. There is a psychological difference, specifically, towards the difference of being stupid and being ignorant.
             Stupidity, by definition, is marked by or resulting from unreasoned thinking or acting. It is also often related to dull feelings and or sensations. The most common affiliation of stupidity is the results of decision making. People generally tend to blame wrongful decisions on intentional perversity and shrewd animosity. These conclusions are not always obvious, but contradicting in the aspect that they are unquestionably characteristic. Any careful study of history or even current events, leads to the invariable conclusion that the single largest source of horrible mistakes is sheer stupidity. It is quite striking that universities will devote hours of study towards the migrating patterns of a species of animal, but have no foundations in the study of stupidity. Such a vast topic with endless subject matter, yet, accurate and informative resources are scarce - an ironic coincidence? In general, people commonly grasp more stupidity than they are aware. .
             Ignorance, by definition, can be a destitute of knowledge or education. Often times, this goes unnoticed, because when people don't know about a specific subject, things "pass off" as alright. A famous quote that dates as far back as Socrates" is, "ignorance is bliss". This is fundamentally true in all aspects, as people are comfortable being ignorant. By being uninformed of certain matters, most people are generally and psychologically happier. Sadly, ignorance is frequently associated with slander, race, religion, and civil rights. Many times people will express their anger or confusion by offensive comments, with no knowledge of what they are truly pertaining to.
