             Michael Phelps has felt the eyes of the world upon him. They watched as he won medal after medal in the Olympics, but what allowed him to achieve such lofty goals? What put him on the road to history? He believes that actions speak louder than his words, is blessed with the right genetics, and he sure knows how to eat.
             Practice Makes Perfect.
             Michael Phelps sticks to a training regimen that has him working on his swimming six days every week while working out five hours each of those days. This is not a routine for the faint of heart. This gruelling schedule has made swimming his life and has clearly paid off. He reached his goal of winning all eight gold medals because of this intensive training regimen. Michal Phelps believes that actions speak louder than words and his actions have been seen, and heard, by the world.
             The Right Stuff.
             Michael Phelps was born to swim. His propensity toward swimming seems built into his genes. He stands a good six feet four inches which is a good start. Add to that the fact that his torso is especially long when measured against his legs. This allows him to be even more perfectly proportioned for swimming. He glides in the water. Finally, his arm span is even longer that it should be for someone of his height. His arm span reaches an impressive six feet and seven inches which grants him a reach beyond that of what people with his height generally enjoy. .
             Just Keep Swimming And Eating.
             To maintain his workout schedule Michael Phelps has to eat. He has to eat a lot. He consumes 12,000 calories on a daily basis. Compare this to the typical 2,000 calories required for an average person, and you will come to realize something. That is a lot of food. Still, when you work out for five hours a day six days out of the week you need to take in enough calories for energy and muscle repair. This staggering amount of food just comes with the territory.
             Michael Phelps won eight gold medals.
