Lifetime Learning: Trends in Adult Education

In today's constantly changing economic and technological climate, retaining employment must require constant learning and relearning. At times, when corporations may even be overtaken by another corporation, employees may be required to unlearn previous sets of workplace behaviors completely and begin a whole new process. New technology and diversity in the workplace may a pose different challenges for workers, requiring new skill sets in the form of additional education, as well. So, it is of no surprise that these workplace trends directly mirror trends in adult education, whether it be through, traditional university classes, workplace specific programs, distance learning, or a myriad of other programs that are required to stay current and competitive in the constantly changing workplace.              According to this article, many older adults are attracted to the liberal blend of courses available to them. With so much time devoted to career and little time left for recreation when these adults become "empty nesters-, it is plausible to believe that, education then becomes recreation.
