Book Report- Slaughter House-Five

            The title of my book is Slaughter House-Five. I chose this book because it sounded like an interesting war novel.
             The main character in this book is Billy Pilgrim. Billy is a weakling, not some one who you would think to fight in a war. Billy was an optometrist. Billy has no fear of dying. After each death in the story he says, "So it goes". .
             The conflict in this book is that no one believes Billy about the Trafalmadores and how he was captured and taken through time. Every one thinks he is insane. They blame it on when he hit his head in the plane crash. The conflict is between Billy and everyone else. The conflict is not resolved because Billy was shot before he has a chance to convince others of his captivity on Trafalmadore or his ability to time travel to the past and to the future, this is the climax of the conflict. .
             In this book German soldiers in World War II captured Billy Pilgrim. When he was released he was assigned to work hard labor in Dresden, Germany. While Billy was in Dresden the city was bombed by the Ally air force. Billy and many others managed to survive. He then returned to his home in Ilium, New York and becomes an optometrist. On the night of his daughter's wedding he was captured by aliens and brought to the planet Tralfamadore. He was only gone for a few seconds in Earth time. .
             On his way to a convention his plane crashed and he was the only survivor. After he recovered the operation he started to tell people about his trip to Tralfamadore. Everyone thought he was insane. At a public speaking an assassin killed Billy.
             I would like to ask the author if Billy was really captured by aliens or was he really insane. I did not like the way this book ending because an assassin shot Billy before any one believed him about the aliens. If I could change this ending I would make it so his daughter believed him about the aliens right before he died.
             The main setting in this book mostly takes place in Ilium, New York.
