Dr. Conrad Murray Sentenced to 4 Years in Jail

Conrad Murray for his irresponsibility and unremorseful attitude after Michael Jackson's death, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor sentenced Murray to the maximum of 4 years in prison. However, under the new state law regarding conditions in state prisons, Murray will serve time in the LA County Jail rather than in the state prison. Even at that, a spokesman for the county Sheriff's Department said Murray would only spend a maximum of two years behind bars, with a potential for even less time if the jails get overcrowded (Ryan).
Murray was convicted on November 7th of involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson. Since then, he has lost all of the medical licenses he held in three different states. Murray's lawyer joked about his job prospects post-jail time, which included working as a coffee barista or as a Wal-Mart greeter. Murray will have little chance of holding a job after he is released, especially since he has shown no emotion since the death of Jackson. When he entered the courtroom, Murray blew kisses at his relatives, but remained unemotional as the judge berated him for his behavior (Ryan). .
"Yipes! Talk about blaming the victim," Judge Pastor said, referring to Murray's comment on television that Jackson had "entrapped" him. "Not only isn't there any remorse, there is umbrage and outrage on the part of Dr. Murray against the decedent. He has absolutely no sense of remorse, absolutely no sense of fault and is and remains dangerous" (Ryan).
Judge Pastor went on to criticize Murray's tactics of administering surgical anesthetic for insomnia as "horrible medicine" practice, citing that Murray was more interested in his $150,000 a month than obeying the Hippocratic Oath. In fact, Murray recently commented in a televised documentary, "I do not feel guilty because I did not do anything wrong" (Ryan).
Jackson's relatives declined the opportunity address Murray formally in the courtroom, but Brian Panish, an attorney for Katherine Jackson, read from a letter on the family's behalf.
