Lunch Lady or Lunch Mommy?

Each year as August approaches, there is one question that comes into many students" minds. What should I do for lunch? There are the options of taking one's lunch everyday of the school year, or buying the feared and dreaded cafeteria food. My choice this year, as in years past, is to take my lunch that my sweet mother prepares every morning before school. By bringing my lunch I know where my food came from, save my parents money, and don't have to wait in a long line to get lunch. Bringing a lunch from home is superior to buying a lunch from school for a number of reasons.
Each day when the bell rings to release students to lunch, many weary and hungry students rush to the cafeteria to get in line for food. These students that wish to buy their lunch at school suffer the consequence of having to wait in a long and slow-moving line for their food. Most of the year these lines are not excessively long, but there are a few days during the year, the first few days of school, that the lines can seem to take hours to get through. Those students who take their lunch are the privileged few who are able to walk in the lunchroom and quickly find an excellent seat. Bringing a lunch gives students extra time to eat their lunches, instead of having to cram the food down in five minutes at the end of the lunch period. I have found that the students who bring their lunches can always save seats for their friends, and these friends usually get the best seats in the house thanks to the kind young friend who wished to bring a lunch from home.
Another critical viewpoint in the extremely important issue of school lunches is health. No one, including the lunch ladies, knows what goes into the school food. This food could be leftover meat from the week before, or even just some spare meat found on the floor that the lunch ladies didn't want to waste. This combination of old school foods to make a new, but not improved, type of food is why it is called Monday Mystery Meat.
