Anthropoloy classifies family organization as conjugal, where parents and children co-reside, each as a member of the same family. Family is the basic unit of a society, if broken, the society would not be able to function. Families are kept alive by the reproduction that usually happens between married couples. The familial structure is based on the beliefs of the culture. The differences of cultures stems from deep beliefs of the ancestor linage. .
The Trobrianders are a primitive small tribe of Papua New Guinea, on the Kiriwana Island. Seeing how this tribe interacts and live with one another, and the traditions are studied in many books. The culture of the tribe is especially studied in Annette Weiner ethnography, The Trobrianders of Papua New Guinea. Some techniques of their culture can be compared to the Bugis. The Bugis are an ethic group in Indonesia, mainly located on the southern side of Sulawesi. The relationships between the Bugis and Trobrianders are similar, as they put family the forefront, this is shown through marriage and kinship.
Indonesia is made up of different cultures, one of the biggest is the Bugis tribe. They are mainly settled near ports and live in union with different cultures. According to the Encyclopedia of Ethnography, Bugis settles in municipal villages and dwell in highly populated areas. The culture is able to be maintained and widen by the tight living space that the people live in. They thrive with other tribes becaus ether are able to adapt ideas. they live in close proximities to other tribes near ports. They mainly settle near ports so they can continue to fish and live. The group holds power above all other things. They have a powerful sense of face that demands for an individual to try as hard as possible to win honor, whatever it takes (Gall&Hobby; 2009). .
The society goes by a hierarchy system that puts nobility on the top, then commoners, then lastly are slaves.
