The Hoax of the Amityville Horror House

American history is chock-full of mysterious, often horrifying, stories of ghosts and the houses they inhabit. An old, abandoned house with shutters unhinging can conjure feelings of fear in the bravest of men. But few homes in America have provided such an indelible, iconic image of the supernatural, as the house on 112 Ocean Avenue, in Amityville, New York; the heart of the infamous "Amityville Horror" hauntings.
It was in this house, in 1973, that Ronald Joseph "Butch" Defeo Jr. took a .35 Marlin rifle and executed six of his family members while they were sleeping; and it was two years later that George and Kathleen Lutz, along with their three children, purchased the home on Ocean Avenue and moved in. What they thought as their dream home turned out to be everything but that. The family stayed in the house for a mere twenty-eight days. They claim that the supernatural was the cause of their departure. With the proper analysis and the scientific method, all empirical evidence leads to the Amityville horror being an elaborate fabrication.
There are a lot of paranormal claims that resulted in the Lutz family leaving the Defeo property. It all began when the Lutz family invited Father Ray to bless the new property. Father Ray was walking throughout the house sprinkling holly water and reciting his blessings. As he made his way to the second floor into Marc and John's room he asserts that he heard a loud masculine voice shout, "Get out!" The priest refused to come back and bless the house after the family faced more advanced levels of paranormal activity. .
On the Amityville horror website, it was said that Father Ray was facing after effects caused by the first blessing of the home. The family experienced everything ranging from foul odors, cold spots, slime oozing out of the walls, black stains appeared on the toilets, and it was also reputed that hundreds of flies would appear in the middle of winter.
