The scene I chose is from 1:08:00 to 1:12:38. It is mainly about Rachel playing piano while Deckard is sleeping. Deckard wakes up and tries to kiss her. Rachel refuses and tries to leave, but at the end of the scene, she faces her real emotions and kisses Deckard. .
It starts with a medium over-the-shoulder shot of Rachel. The room is dark but the area around her is quite bright because there is a lamp on the piano plus light is coming in from the advertising spaceship outside. Rachel wears the clothes and hairstyle of a 1940's American woman, as she always does. The shot of her back clear shows her curves and her dress with its 1940s design of wide-shoulders.
Then comes a close up of Rachel's hand, she is picking an old photo from the piano. When she sits down, the background is blurred, after which the camera focuses on another picture on the piano. It is a photo of a woman with fluffy hair. We can see a medium shot of Rachel and the pianos as she is looking at the picture. She casts her eyes into the air as if she is memorizing it. This reminds the viewer that it is a hard time for her since she has just been told that all her own memories never existed. She has made by Tyrell and since her past is not truly hers, she is not the real her. Rachel looks down at the photo and puts it back to the piano. The camera focuses again on the photo of the fluffy haired woman. The repetition of the shot of this photo is actually foreshadowing that Rachel is imitating this woman when she lets down her hair afterwards. The camera now changes to Deckard, who is sleeping in shadow. This close-up tells us the condition of Deckard, which is exhausted. When the camera moves back to Rachel, she is taking off her coat, her face has no emotion; it's pale yet sophisticated. She looks at the score then she slowly starts to play. .
