The Controversy of Bullet Capacity Limits

Many years ago, the founding fathers of the United States decided that in the new world's best interest, they should create a series of solid, consistent, national laws; the Bill of Rights. One of the most important and controversial rights is the second amendment giving citizens the right to bear arms. For many years it has been a hot topic in debates between the Democrats and the Republicans. However, they do not see the smaller issue at hand. Instead of enforcing things like gun control and being unconstitutional about it, they should limit the number of bullets that one could use in a clip/magazine.
Needless to say, if one were to review the constitution, and the government was to ban guns, it would be unconstitutional. Limiting the number of bullets in a clip or magazine would allow the government to have some control on firearms without angering the people or being unconstitutional in their action. Phillip Clemmer, an author for the U.S. News Digital Weekly, researched and wrote on this topic. This argument was recently argued by Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter when he said that gun magazines should not exceed more than ten bullets (Clemmer 14). The article, "A Ban on High-Capacity Gun Magazines," tells of a man by the name of Jim Hall saying, "Yes, of course the Congress should ban high-volume ammo clips. When all else fails, common sense should prevail" " (Clemmer 14). While gun control should not, and will not successfully be passed, bullet control can be passed as a law as it makes guns less dangerous in the hands of criminals, but still is in accordance with our Right to Bear Arms. .
It seems gun companies do not make seven-bullet clips, and refuse to do so. According to the website, New York Post, New York's Governor Andrew Cuomo is enforcing a strict seven bullet maximum capacity. The law was passed last January and prohibited the selling of any magazines that held more than seven bullets.
